The protagonist, Aruji, is a knight belonging to the guild "Pisolino Corvo" (The Raven's Nap). The guild operates like a jack-of-all-trades, taking on any and all jobs regardless of the particulars. Among their more principled peers, they're derided as the unprincipled "Ravens of the Dumpheap." For this reason, the guild is full of characters with more than a few quirks - those who were dismissed from the Royal Knights, those who were expelled from other guilds, and the like.
At the request of the guild, Aruji is sent to work as the proprietor of an abandoned inn in the Kingdom of Valleroy. Being a jack-of-all-trades, his primary profession as a knight was irrelevant; such requests were by no means uncommon.
From past experience, Aruji knows that such a request from the guild means that there must be something fishy about this case. Whether it's the inn itself, or the future patrons, or even both that are fishy, Aruji would have to find out on his own...
Upon arriving at the inn, Aruji immediately stumbles upon the reason. The long-abandoned inn is covered in dust and cobwebs, making it look like a ruin. An abandoned inn where no one should be - yet there are clear signs that someone lives there.
Aruji explores the inn with increased vigilance, and comes across a girl carrying a sword...
