This gigantic tree, said to be inhabited by spirits, was called the 'Holy Tale Tree,' and it was believed to protect the island.
To gain the blessing of the spirits, a ceremony was held once every hundred years before the Holy Tale Tree:
The 'Miserere Ceremony.'
A shrine maiden with the title of 'Raison', raised deep within the Inner Sanctuary, would, upon reaching the age of sixteen, cross the Lacrimosa Sea of Trees to perform the ceremony at the Holy Tale Tree, as was tradition.
The current Raison shrine maiden, Kyrie, was also approaching his sixteenth birthday.
However, due to the conflict between the Sanctuary and the feudal lords, Kyrie was abducted by the troops of a feudal lord plotting to disrupt the ceremony.
There was Canon, a young warrior of the temple striving to retrieve Kyrie. Credo, a member of the thieves plotting to kidnap the Raison shrine maiden. And Requiem, a young man who maneuvered in the shadows, carrying lies and pain in his gaze.
Amid the entangled ambitions of many, Kyrie, as the sole Raison shrine maiden, sets out for the Holy Tale Tree to fulfill his duty.
