Description
The protagonist's only real friend—something incredibly rare for someone who dislikes people as much as he does.
That said, they're not especially close.
Their friendship is mostly just inertia from their school days. They don't see each other that often now that they're in college, but since neither of them has really found their place there, neither has had a reason to let the friendship fade away.
To the protagonist, he was simply someone he didn't mind having around. But ever since the protagonist made his debut as a light novel author, his inferiority complex has become painfully obvious, and he's turned into the kind of guy who can't stop making passive-aggressive little remarks.
Watching him desperately throw himself into job hunting, hoping a successful career will somehow restore the balance between them, is honestly a little painful. That sense of inferiority is youth in a nutshell!
He squirms around so much that, every now and then, he genuinely starts to resemble a caterpillar.
